HUTCHISON PORTS COMMENCES PORT EXPANSION PROJECT IN PAKISTAN WITH US$240 MILLION, BRINGING TOTAL INVESTMENT IN THE COUNTRY TO US$1 BILLION

Imran Khan, Prime Minister of Pakistan met Eric Ip, Group Managing Director of Hutchison Ports, along with Ambassador at Large for Foreign Investment Mr. Ali Jehangir Siddiqui, yesterday at Prime Minister House. Mr. Ip expressed his appreciation of the meeting with the Prime Minister and presented Hutchison Ports’ global network of 52 ports, including the operations in Karachi for over 20 years. He took this opportunity to confirm to the Prime Minister the commencement of construction of the second phase of Pakistan Deep Water Container Port project with US$240 million of new investment and achieve a handling capacity of 3.2 million TEU upon completion.

Hutchison Ports BEST terminal increases its capacity

BEST container terminal in the Port of Barcelona, received 6 new Automated Stacking Cranes (ASC) from the Finnish supplier Konecranes, thereby increasing its storage capacity from 24 to 27 automated blocks. Currently, these blocks are being assembled and tested and they are expected to be fully operational in June this year.

These cranes are electric and move on rails, like most of the terminal´s equipment, since Hutchison Ports has been committed since the beginning to build an efficient and environmentally sustainable terminal in the Port of Barcelona.

SYNERGY adds a 3rd train frequency between the Port of Barcelona and Miranda de Ebro

Synergy, the logistics operator of Hutchison Ports group, has launched a 3rd train frequency between the Port of Barcelona and Miranda de Ebro, thus consolidating in record time its commitment to Miranda de Ebro and northern Spain.

Last October, Synergy decided to expand its multimodal offer by operating the first container train to Miranda Container Terminal (TCM), in Miranda de Ebro, from the Port of Barcelona.

Since then, several rail services have been put in place between the two enclaves thus consolidating the offer and therefore a third weekly frequency has been added in each direction.
