A New US West Service Adds to XICT

[4 Aug 2004 – Hong Kong] – On 1 August 2004, M.V. “CMA CGM HUGO” made a maiden call at Xiamen International Container Terminals (XICT) to commence the Pearl River Express Service (PRX), a US West Coast service jointly operated by CMA CGM and MSC. The inaugural vessel is 334m long with a draught of 14.5m and a handling capacity of over 8,200 TEU.

A total of five vessels are deployed on the new service. PRX calls at XICT weekly with the routing of Xiamen, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Yantian, Pusan, Long Beach, Oakland and Xiamen.

Mr. Edward Tang, General Manager of XICT commented, “We are excited to have launched three long-haul services within two months. These new services will consolidate Xiamen Port’s position as a key hub port serving Southeast China. We will continue to strive towards providing professional, efficient and reliable services to customers.”
