Bathside Bay Display Opens in Harwich

28-Jun-2001

In its ongoing efforts to keep local residents informed, Harwich International Port will be setting up its “The Future of Bathside Bay and Harwich” display in Harwich next month.

The information display will be located in the Safeway supermarket for two weeks from 2nd July, and will then move to Harwich Library for a further two weeks. The display outlines the Port’s plans for the Bathside Bay Container Terminal development, and highlights the impact that the work will have on the area, both from an environmental and economic perspective.

There will also be a chance for local residents to voice their opinions, as they will be invited to complete a comment slip included in the accompanying brochure, and can either post them in the box provided or send them by Freepost to Harwich International Port. These responses will then give the Port a better understanding of local opinion, and will aid the development of a solution suitable to all parties involved.

Bathside Bay adjoins Harwich International Port, and is being developed as a new container facility within the Harwich Haven ports area, which already includes the UK’s largest container port at Felixstowe. When complete, the Bathside Bay terminal will boast 1,400 metres of quay and provide 500 new jobs at the port, plus many more in associated industries.
