21-Apr-2009

[21 April 2009 – Hong Kong] Hongkong International Terminals (HIT) is pleased to announce that its information security management system (ISMS) has been certified ISO/IEC 27001:2005-compliant by the British Standards Institution (BSI) Hong Kong. HIT’s infrastructure and practices conform to internationally acclaimed best practices for information security.

ISO/IEC 27001:2005 ensures HIT’s security controls are adequate for the protection of important information assets through a process approach for establishing, implementing, operating, monitoring, reviewing, maintaining, and improving the ISMS.

The certification covers the provision of data centre services, including facility management, computer operation, service desk management, IT infrastructure support, and system change management at HIT. Additionally, it covers the provisions of disaster-recovery service and storage services for backup tapes at the Entry Gate.

HIT is the first container terminal operator in Hong Kong to have its ISMS certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2005, showing its commitment to reducing operational risk and maximising the trust and confidence customers have in its IT infrastructure security capabilities.
