HPH Cultivates Future Industry Leaders

06-Apr-2004

[6 April 2004 – Hong Kong] – Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) recently launched its second Global Leadership Development Programme (GLDP). Established in 2002, the programme aims to identify and foster management talent for global deployment and long-term succession planning.

Selected from the Group’s global network of ports, managers are enrolled in a comprehensive training programme held in three different countries over a six-month period. The GLDP encompasses both in-class training from some of the world’s best universities, as well as hands-on business experience at ports worldwide.

Participants are able to gain valuable exposure to HPH’s top management through direct involvement with Company executives. Beyond the practical and theoretical knowledge gained, participants also have the opportunity to collaborate with a widely international group of colleagues to work on business issues relevant to HPH.

Commenting on this year’s programme, HPH Group Managing Director, John Meredith said, “We believe that in the very competitive ports industry people are more important than technology. It is the recognition of this fact that differentiates us from our competitors.”

This year’s programme has over 30 participants from five continents and various job functions, ranging from Operations and Engineering to Commercial and Finance.
