Port of Felixstowe Relaunches Website

12-Nov-2002

The Port of Felixstowe website, Felixstowe Online, has been relaunched, under the new address of www.portoffelixstowe.co.uk

The website, previously at www.port-of-felixstowe.co.uk, has undergone extensive redevelopment by the Port’s Information Systems Department, and is much more interactive than its predecessor. New features include a constantly updated Sailing Schedule, giving Estimated Times of Arrival for all vessels calling at the Port; a News/Press Release section; a Photo Library; and an online version of the Port’s Journal.

The website has unique features that are of direct and practical benefit to Port users. For example, the Haulier Enquiry system enables Shipping Lines, Agents, Forwarders and Hauliers to establish the area of the container yard in which their container is stored, and to gain access to real-time information on the level of demand in that particular area. The status of containers can also still be monitored using the secure Felixstowe Cargo Processing System (FCPS) Tracker, operated by MCP plc.

Paul Davey, Corporate Affairs Manager of Hutchison Ports (UK) Limited, owner of the Port of Felixstowe, commented:

“We are extremely pleased with the new-look Felixstowe Online. It has been our aim throughout to ensure that we maintain the existing features, whilst making the overall content even more informative and interesting. The Internet provides a valuable tool that, if used correctly, can speed up and improve a range of business services. We will continue to develop the site and to make available an even greater range of practical information to Port users.”

To ensure a smooth transition period, the previous web address will carry an automatic divert facility for some months following the relaunch.
