Thamesport (London) Limited has recently placed an order for 13 new terminal tractors, further evidence of the Medway port’s commitment to investing in the best equipment to maintain high levels of productivity and efficiency. The tractors will be supplied by MOL Group of Belgium, and are due for delivery in March 2006.

The new order means that eight of the older tractors will be replaced, whilst the other five will increase the current number of tractors operating on site to 40.

The extra investment in equipment has come at a time when Thamesport is seeing increased volumes, as the Port is able to host greater numbers of the latest generation of ultra-large container vessels.

The terminal tractors feature powerful 4×2 drivelines, capable of handling loads of up to 75 tonnes in weight. All tractors are built to a modern design, with ergonomic safety cabs, fulfilling ROPS (Roll-Over Protection Systems) and FOPS (Falling Object Protection Systems) safety tests. They feature the latest in chassis construction methods and low emission engine technologies.
