The Port of Felixstowe today announced that Costain has been awarded the £28 million civil engineering contract for the extension of the Port’s Trinity Terminal.
It has ordered three additional Ship-to-Shore Gantry Cranes (SSGCs) and ten new Rubber-Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTGCs) from Zhenhua Port Machinery Company (ZPMC) of Shanghai, part of the Options provided in an existing crane contract.
The Port of Felixstowe has today announced its intention to develop additional further deep-water container berth capacity.
A principal goal of the project is to maintain a level of security in the movement of cargo from door-to-door within marine containers.
The Port of Felixstowe welcomed its namesake, ‘CSCL Felixstowe’, on its inaugural voyage on Thursday 21st November 2002.

The new cranes, 3 Super Post Panamax with an outreach of 19 rows and 2 Panamax with an outreach of 13 rows are equipped with the latest drive technology to provide faster and smoother handling of customer cargo.
The new service commenced from Felixstowe on 4th November. EWS will initially operate five trains per week from the Port to Widnes for a number of customers, carrying 9ft 6″ high cube containers.
