Hutchison Ports Celebrates New Terminal Operation at Saqr Port in Ras Al Khaimah

Hutchison Ports is pleased to announce the official commencement of its terminal operation at Saqr Port in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah (RAK), located in the northern United Arab Emirates (UAE). Under the new concession agreement, concluded under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, Hutchison Ports will operate the facility for a period of 25 years. The terminal will operate under the name Hutchison Ports RAK.

Port of Felixstowe Rail Improvements Receive Go-ahead

The latest enhancements to Hutchison Ports Port of Felixstowe’s rail connections have been given the green light by the Secretary of State for Transport.

The £60.4m scheme, jointly funded by Network Rail and Hutchison Ports, will allow up to 47 freight trains to run per day in each direction between Ipswich and Felixstowe.

Port of Felixstowe wins Port Operator of the Year

Hutchison Ports Port of Felixstowe won the Port Operator of the Year at the Lloyd’s List Global Awards presented last night at the National Maritime Museum in London.

The Port of Felixstowe won the award for a combination of its innovation, focus on reducing CO2, improved safety and emphasis on rail, helping to reduce road congestion.

Latest Phase of Expansion at the Port of Felixstowe

A contract will be awarded today for the latest phase of expansion at Hutchison Ports Port of Felixstowe.

VolkerFitzpatrick Limited will be appointed to undertake the design and construction of approximately 13 hectares of paved container yard directly behind Berth 9. The work will include the reclamation of 3.2 hectares of seabed behind the existing finger pier.

100th Mega Ship of 2017 Arrives at the Port of Felixstowe

Hutchison Ports Port of Felixstowe will welcome its 100th 18,000+ TEU vessel of 2017 on Thursday this week as the UK’s maritime industry celebrates London International Shipping Week (LISW).

The 18,270 TEU Matz Maersk is operated by Maersk Line on the 2M Alliance’s AE10/NEU2 service between Europe and Asia.

US$450 Million invested on the New Port of Veracruz

With an investment estimated on 450 million dollars, the first stage of the Specialized Container Terminal (TEC) along with the a75% advance , the New Port of Veracruz has become a reality, as it was informed by Mr. Jorge Magno Lecona , Executive Director of Hutchison Ports.The directive , in presence of Mr. Ramón Poo Gil , major of Veracruz, as well as distinguished authorities and company members, stated that phase 1 of the project will be inaugurated on June 30th , 2018; It will have state of the art technology and spaces to perform maneuvers required by big-sized vessels carrying containers.

London Thamesport Receives First Train Move for Armitt Group

The first train has arrived at Hutchison Ports London Thamesport bringing steel coil for UK shipping agent and logistics company, The Armitt Group. Operated by DB Cargo, this is the first train to use the Group’s fully integrated 120,000 square feet specialist handling facility at the port.

1,000 tonnes of steel coil was transported by rail from the Tata Steel manufacturing plant in South Wales. The steel is due to leave the port by road, destined for customers throughout Europe.

Hutchison Ports TILH operates simultaneous crossborder services

Hutchison Ports TILH ( Hidalgo’s Intermodal Logistics Terminal) simultaneously operated two cross border services towards the United States, moving a transformer and 45 wind tower sections, adding a total of 2, 784 tons.

New and Improved Cranes at the Port of Felixstowe

The Port of Felixstowe has ordered two new gantry cranes for its Berths 8&9 and work has started to raise 10 of the existing cranes on Trinity Terminal at the port.

The new cranes, ordered from ZPMC in Shanghai, will bring to 12 the number on the port’s newest terminal. They will have a 59.5 metre outreach from the quay, sufficient to allow them to handle future generations of container vessels with containers stowed up to 24-wide across the deck.

World’s Largest Container Ship calls at the Port of Felixstowe

The world’s largest container ship, the 21,413 TEU OOCL Hong Kong, has made its maiden call at Hutchison Ports Port of Felixstowe.

The call represented a double celebration it also marked the return of OOCL to the UK’s largest container port after a 17 year absence.
