[Brisbane, Australia – 30 November 2011] Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) signed an agreement today with Baulderstone, signaling the immediate commencement of civil works at Berth 11, the Port of Brisbane’s newest container terminal.

“We are very pleased to be working with Baulderstone, one of Australia’s leading building and engineering companies with significant experience in marine construction works,” said Raymond Law, Managing Director, Australasia and North Asia of HPH.

“The signing of this agreement not only signifies the commencement of construction of Berth 11 in Brisbane but it also confirms HPH’s commitment to building modern container port facilities in Australia.”

In addition to the civil works, HPH has already procured advanced container handling equipment which is expected to be delivered to the terminal mid-2012.

HPH is also in the process of configuring its proprietary terminal operating system nGen, which will be deployed throughout the Australian operations. The system is scheduled for full implementation by the third quarter of 2012.

Baulderstone General Manager (Queensland) Stephen Green said that the Port of Brisbane is a major driver in the economy and we are pleased to be a part of the continued development of this critical piece of infrastructure.

“Baulderstone is looking forward to working with HPH, the world’s leading port investor and operator, to deliver Berth 11 at the Port of Brisbane,” Green said.

“The scope of works includes ground improvements, in-ground infrastructure, pavement works and rail beams, all of which are critical to the creation of dynamic container port operations.”

Berth 11 is scheduled to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2012 with berth 12 to follow in 2014.
