Hutchison Ports Yantian wins Best Container Terminal Asia at AFLAS Awards 2018

Hutchison Ports Yantian was named the Best Container Terminal Asia (over 4 million TEUs) at the 2018 Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain (AFLAS) Awards presented on 15 May at the Wanda Reign on the Bund Hotel in Shanghai. The awards, hosted and organised annually by Asia Cargo News, recognise leading service providers including air and shipping lines, airports and sea ports, logistics, 3PLs and other associated industry professionals.

Patrick Lam, Managing Director of Hutchison Ports Yantian, said, “We are very honoured to be named Best Container Terminal in Asia, this is certainly an important milestone we all at Yantian are proud of. We are committed to building a smart, green and world-class container terminal and providing a sustainable environment through technological innovation and operational efficiency. We are well-placed to deliver on changing market landscape and capitalise on future opportunities. I would like to thank everyone at Yantian for their unwavering support.”

Yantian International Container Terminals is the leading gateway in South China and is one of the biggest single terminals in the world. It operates 20 deep-water berths and handled about 1 million TEUs per month currently. Last year, the terminal achieved a record-breaking annual throughput of 12.7 million TEUs with a growth of 8.6%. The terminal is the preferred port-of-call for mega vessels as all 18,000-plus TEU vessels are calling at it today.

The AFLAS Award was attended by over hundreds of industry professionals. The nomination and voting process allowed more than 10,000 readers of Asia Cargo News and e-news subscribers to first determine the leading companies in the market, and then determine the winners, making the results the opinion of service users rather than a panel of judges.
