Jakarta Container Port Participates in Annual ASEAN Ports Association Conference and Maritime Exhibition

[Indonesia – Jakarta, 4th November 2001] – Jakarta Container Port (JCP) participated in the 2001 ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) Port Association (APA) Conference, a key regional maritime conference and exhibition held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Hosted by the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport and Communications and opened by the Minister of Transport for Vietnam Mr. Le Ngoc Hoan, the annual event is an opportunity for Maritime industry executives, government officials and technical specialists to get together to discuss current maritime issues and future development in the region through a programme of speeches, presentations, debate and exhibition.

The team from JCP was led by President Director Mr. W.S. Wirjawan, and in addition to hosting a stand at the exhibition, a key note speech was made by Mr. Wirjawan to conference delegates, entitled “Indonesia – Creating the Hub Port for the Nation”

In his speech, Mr. W.S. Wirjawan spoke about the past and the present situation of the Indonesian Container Ports and Shipping industry, and the progress and development at JCP. He also highlighted the key drivers for creating a hub port for Indonesia. Commenting later on JCP’s participation in the event, Mr. Wirjawan stated, “JCP is very pleased to have been invited to take part in this event and have the opportunity of sharing our vision of creating a hub port for Indonesia with a wider audience.”
