[28 September 2002 – Hong Kong] – The Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) extended its Mediterranean service (Dragon Express) to XICT with the maiden call of “M.V. MSC Hudson” on 27 September, 2002. Following Hanjin Shipping’s Europe service on 25 September, it is the eighth international line-haul service at XICT.

Deploying 8 vessels of 2,758 to 4,918 TEU in capacity, the Dragon Express calls at XICT on every Saturday and leaves the following morning. Mr. Patrick Lam, general manager of XICT, commented on the service, “We are glad to have the first Mediterranean service which enables a comprehensive coverage of XICT’s shipping network to worldwide destinations. Our customers can enjoy more choices in services and greater flexibility in schedules. XICT will continue to contribute to the prospering international container liner business in Xiamen.”
