Pingyan Railway Helps Develop Vast Inland Market

[30 April 2003, SHENZHEN] Shenzhen Pingyan Railway Company Limited (Pingyan Railway) has announced today to commence new multi-modal transportation services to customers of Yantian International Container Terminals (YICT) from 1 May 2003. Pingyan Railway is funded by the HPH-led (65%) international consortium and Shenzhen Yantian Port Group (35%), with a total investment of RMB 350 million.

Pingyan Railway helps develop the vast inland market by providing customers with various value-added and cost-effective services and extending international container transportation from the port to the inland catchment areas of China. With the advantage of YICT’s deep-water port status in southern China, Pingyan Railway is able to offer excellent multi-modal transportation services including departure, arrival and trans-shipment of dedicated trains, railway containers, international and railway reefer wagons. The trans-shipment of break-bulk truck cargo and other related business are also incorporated into Pingyan Railway’s services.

Pingyan Railway utilises the dedicated railway line to support YICT with railway transportation, warehousing and container depot services and container traffic relief at the terminal.

The Pingyan Railway line, owned and operated by Shenzhen Pingyan Railway Company Limited, runs 24 km and connects with the Guangshen Railway at Pinghunan Railway Station where it joins the main arteries of China.
