The Port of Felixstowe welcomed the first call of a new direct and dedicated “EuroGalex” service between Europe and the Gulf/Indian Subcontinent on Sunday 27th July 2003, with the arrival of MOL Sprinter.

The service, a joint operation between Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) and Norasia, will incorporate six chartered 1,700 TEU vessels; MOL Sprinter, Norasia Sindh, Norasia Malabar, Norasia Punjab, Norasia Bavaria and Norasia Noor. Hyundai and United Arab Shipping Company have already taken slots on the service.

The port rotation, based on fixed-day sailings, is:-

Jebel Ali – Karachi – Nhava Sheva – Colombo – Felixstowe – Hamburg – Rotterdam – Jebel Ali

Richard Pearson, Managing Director of Hutchison Ports (UK) Limited, owners of the Port of Felixstowe, commented:

“We are very pleased to welcome the EuroGalex service to Felixstowe. This new service significantly increases the range of carriers we can offer from the Port to the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent, and provides some of the most competitive transit times around, with just 15 days from Colombo to Felixstowe, and 19 days from Nhava Sheva.”
