25-Jan-2005

[25 January 2005 – Hong Kong] – On 20th January, two super-post-panamax quay cranes were delivered to Xiamen International Container Terminals (XICT).

The new quay cranes, with a lifting height of 38 metres, an outreach of 56 metres and a lifting capacity of 45 tonnes, are capable of serving the world’s latest generation of mega container vessels. They are also the largest quay cranes in Xiamen Port.

Mr. Edward Tang, General Manager of XICT commented: “To cope with increased demand, XICT has invested heavily in container-handling equipment, gatehouse facilities, container yard expansion, and IT enhancements. The additional quay cranes will further boost our productivity at XICT.”

In 2004, XICT recorded an average quay crane rate over 31 moves per hour and achieved a vessel operation rate of 107 moves per hour. This increased level of service excellence ensures XICT’s valued customers minimise their turnaround times while maximising their productivity.
