[23 Dec 2004 – Hong Kong] – Xiamen International Container Terminals (XICT) has just received the largest container vessel ever to call at Xiamen Port. On 20 December 2004, the 8,450-TEU M.V. “P&O Nedlloyd Mondriaan” made its inaugural call at XICT. The vessel is 335m long, 42.8m wide with a draught of 14m.

M.V. “P&O Nedlloyd Mondriaan” is deployed on Grand Alliance’s Europe Service (Loop-D) with the port rotation of Xiamen, Yantian, Hong Kong, Singapore, Southampton, Hamburg, Rotterdam and Shanghai.

In addition, XICT recently demonstrated its world-class level of service excellence. Late in November, a new vessel operation record of 155.5 moves per hour was set handling COSCO’s M.V. “Jinhe”. Another record of single vessel handling volume was achieved in December while serving M.V. “Pacific Link” of CMA/MSC’s PRX service. A total throughput of 4,659 TEU was handled from the vessel.

Mr. Edward Tang, General Manager of XICT commented: “We have put much effort into improving productivity and minimizing turnaround times. It is our utmost commitment to provide efficient and hassle-free services to our customers. Thanks to the hard work of XICT staff who made these achievements possible.”
