Hutchison Ports Sohar is an ultra-modern container-handling facility capable of accommodating the latest generation of mega-vessels. The terminal is located in the Port of Sohar, outside the Straits of Hormuz in the Gulf of Oman, approximately 200 kilometres from Muscat and 160 kilometres from Dubai. Ongoing investment in the Port of Sohar means it is emerging as an engine of economic growth, and a catalyst for further expansion in infrastructure, industry and commerce in the region.

In line with implementing the Sultanate’s aspirations to increase revenue from the logistic sector, in accordance with the objectives of ‘Oman Vision 2040’, SOHAR Port and Freezone signed a Development Agreement with Hutchison Ports Sohar. The agreement will see a joint Feasibility Study conducted for the expansion of SOHAR Port alongside the addition of a new container terminal capable of receiving mega-vessels.
Hutchison Port Holdings Limited (HPH) Group Managing Director Eric Ip has delivered the keynote speech at the GCC Supply Chain & Logistics Conference 2015 in Sohar, outlining the group’s vision for Oman International Container Terminal (OICT), including the fast-tracking development at Terminal C, plans for Terminal D and expansion of hinterland connections all with the aim of increasing OICT’s annual handling capacity by four times to six million TEU.
