What unites them is an ambition to make our network of ports stronger; sharing knowledge, skills and innovations freely across borders, oceans and continents. So that wherever in the world we operate, we operate to the very best standards.
This is what makes us a true network, and a rewarding place to work.
I have been with Hutchison Ports for 15 years. During this period, I have worked for at least 10 of our business units and have been stationed in Seoul, Hong Kong and Dubai. No matter where I am, I always enjoy working alongside high calibre colleagues from various countries and backgrounds.
Nothing is more satisfying than successfully completing a long negotiation with customers to create mutual benefit. Often there can be many challenges and obstacles, so to find a win-win solution, which will support our customers and help drive our business, is always a highlight.
The company is highly meritocratic and there are plenty of opportunities to grow.
Hutchison Ports is known for IT innovation for port operations, and all adjunct applications supporting the overall business. Being a part of this innovation is humbling and exciting.
Being part of the world’s leading port network means I’m able to source knowledge and expertise in any area, from mega-ports to the smallest ports within the Group.
What I find most satisfying about working with our customers and partners is gaining their acknowledgement of good service, their trust in our systems and their willingness to work with us during new technology deployment.
In the 10 years that I have been with the Group, each day has been a growing moment.
As part of my role, I have had the opportunity to travel to a number of countries across the world to visit other ports within the Hutchison Ports portfolio. It’s a fast-moving, ever-changing company that continues to grow and evolve. Being part of that gives great satisfaction to daily working life.
One of the things I enjoy most about being part of Hutchison Ports is the ability to work with people from other cultures from around the world, sharing ideas and experiences to improve our ports. I feel a sense of pride in the scale of the operations and what we achieve.
I have been able to develop my career from a Trainee Accountant to Finance Director and see the company grow.
We have a variety of customers and partners and, being a manager of procurement and contracts, I deal with most of them on a regular basis. The most satisfying part is that it is easy to deal with suppliers and customers because of the reputation of Hutchison Ports.
I enjoy the cultural diversity of the Group as we have people in our office of different nationalities under one roof. I also enjoy being part of a multinational group which has an exceptional reputation among the industry leaders.
I would say that Hutchison Ports is the best place to work, with lots of growth and learning opportunities and room to explore your talents. The growth prospects for myself, and the Group, as well as the mobility options due to the wider network of business units always excites me and motivates me to improve and further develop myself.
I like working for Hutchison Ports Sohar, because it provides new challenges, development opportunities and a high quality of service.
I meet with different people from many different cultures and work together as one family. Moreover, the company is the exclusive provider for container handling services at the Port of Sohar, which makes me proud to be a member of Hutchison Ports.
In general, employees at Hutchison Ports Sohar don’t stay in the same position for a long time – the company provides opportunities for people to develop and take different positions through training and developing staff programmes. I’d recommend all my friends to apply to work for Hutchison Ports!
At Hutchison Ports I have had the opportunity to grow as a professional in an environment where women are empowered to contribute equally, add value to the industry, and balance career and family life. I am valued for my knowledge, capabilities and ideas to develop better ways to work and think.
In my future with Hutchison Ports, I see myself growing, learning new skills and specialising in areas such as customer experience, marketing, branding, communication, even in commercial activities.
The ports sector is fascinating, challenging, relevant in daily life, with real opportunities to be useful to society and realise the potential of our capabilities. Being part of the success of each customer’s business is the most satisfying part.
