Top Ocean Carriers and Terminal Operators Initiate Blockchain Consortium

Nine leading ocean carriers and terminal operators today signed a formal statement of intent for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to form a consortium to develop the Global Shipping Business Network (GSBN), an open digital platform based on distributed ledger technology. The participants include ocean carriers CMA CGM, COSCO SHIPPING Lines, Evergreen Marine, OOCL, and Yang Ming; terminal operators DP World, Hutchison Ports, PSA International Pte Ltd, and Shanghai International Port; and software solutions provider CargoSmart.

HUTCHISON LOGISTICS SIGNED FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT ON “SOUTHERN TRANSPORT CORRIDOR”

Hutchison Logistics (HK) Limited (Hutchison Logistics), a member of Hutchison Port Holdings Trust (HPH Trust), yesterday signed a Framework Agreement on the “Southern Transport Corridor – Hong Kong-Chongqing Ocean-Rail Intermodal Logistics Cooperation” with CCI Eurasia Land Bridge Logistics Development Co. Ltd., that supports the Belt and Road Initiative, and aims for all-round co-operation in various fields.

HIT’s Container Terminal 9 North launches remote-controlled operations

Container Terminal 9 (CT9) North in Tsing Yi held an opening ceremony today to mark the launch of its remote-controlled rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGCs) and automated container stacking system. This landmark development made CT9 North the first container terminal in Hong Kong where all yard cranes are operated remotely and the stacking of containers is fully automated at yard.

Latest Expansion Begins at Port of Felixstowe

The Rt Hon Chris Grayling MP, Secretary of State for Transport, has officiated at a formal ground-breaking ceremony to mark the start of work on the latest phase of expansion at Hutchison Ports Port of Felixstowe.

Approximately 13 hectares of new paved container yard is to be constructed directly behind Berth 9 at the UK’s largest container port. The work will include the reclamation of 3.2 hectares of seabed.

Hutchison Ports has acquired a 50% shareholding in TMA Logistics B.V. (“TMA”).

TMA has a variety of general cargo terminal operations together with warehousing, shipping, logistics and project cargo activities at three sites in Amsterdam and one in Antwerp as well as at Hutchison Ports Amsterdam (formerly known as Amsterdam Container Terminals(ACT)).
